Synopsis
UNDERCURRENT is a melodrama about Kiwa Funaki, an independent working woman who designs and sells kimonos and neckties in 50s Kyoto. Her father, who dyes the textiles in his factory, would prefer to see her married. Yet she declines all suitors in favour of a married scientist. When his wife passes away, she doesn't react as expected.
