Synopsis
The first solo feature by Kira Muratova depicts an intricate love triangle in the Soviet Union, challenging the romantic ideas of love and the idealization of relationships within society. Banned by communist censors for twenty years, the film explores themes such as loneliness, the complexities of human relationships and the difficulties in reconciling work and personal life in a society that had to be portrayed as perfect.
