Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Monday, January 2, 2017.- Singer and song writer Julieta Venegas will stop over Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, next Thursday, April 6, to give a concert that will take place at the Pérez Galdós Theater, within the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival’s framework (March 31st to April 9th), as part of the Monopol Music Festival’s program.

Thus, the Film Festival’s audience will enjoy again the celebration, nostalgia, commitment, hope and passion the Mexican’s songs exude, a singer who, for the first time, goes on tour with two of her great regular musicians: Matías Saavedra and Sergio Silva. The three of them, through the Parte Mía Tour 2017, will perform their greatest hits as well as other singles of their repertoire, each one of them played from a new point of view that brings the audience closer.

Tickets, already for sale, can be purchased at the Pérez Galdós Theater and Alfredo Kraus Auditorium’s box offices, as well as on entradas.com, priced as follows: pit and house seats 1 and 2 (premium area, which includes a meeting with the singer -meet&greet- the day of the concert), 40 €; zone A (stalls + dress circle), 32 €; zone B (stall boxes + mezzanine), 27 €; zone C (dress circle boxes + upper circle), 22 €.

Apart from its traditional film documentary program, the Monopol Music Festival includes in its fourth edition a series of concerts that bring the Film Festival’s audience closer to artists moving on a thin line between indie music and radio formula. Julieta Venegas, according to the MMF’s programmers, is an example of that talent that perfectly combines both trends: a woman who stands firm in her beliefs without letting the industry’s demands take control of her, but who has carved out a niche in the commercial circuit. Venegas’ work has been as well required by the soundtracks of more than twenty-five films, among which stand out titles such as Amores Perros, by Alejandro González Iñárritu; Abel, by Diego Luna; María llena eres de gracia, by Joshua Marston; Una noche en el viejo México, by Emilio Aragón, or Matrimonio compulsivo, by the Farrelly brothers.

With a personal style that fuses ranchera, pop, rock and the accordion together, the Tijuana-born Julieta Venegas is one of Latin America’s renowned song writers who have earned international recognition, as well as won prestigious awards such as a Grammy, five Latin Grammys and 8 MTV awards.

Julietas Venegas visited Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 2007 as part of her “Limón y Sal” album tour, and returned five years later with “Otra cosa”. Parte Mía Tour 2017 and the Monopol Music Festival repeat that lapse and, again, five years later, favor the reunion between the Mexican and the Gran-Canarian capital and allow her audience to witness the artist’s constant evolution.
