Eroguro, a disturbing erotic genre that came from Japan

News

Because of the presentation of the book Eroguro. Horror y erotismo en la cultura popular japonesa [Eroguro. Horror and erotism in Japanese popular culture] (Satori Ediciones, 2018), edited by the writer and regular collaborator Jesús Palacios, the Festival has programmed a special session of Yasuzo Masumura’s film Môjú (Blind Beast, Japan, 1969, 86 min.). Thus, on Monday, April 9, the fans of Japanese culture’s erotic and grotesque side have a double appointment: at 1pm, Palacios will present next to writer Iria Barro the first book on that genre published in Spain at the Pérez Galdós Theater; at 7 pm, Môjú‘s showing at the Monopol Screen 5 will serve to delve into the genre.

The Eroguro, born in the 20s, questions Japanese culture’s pre-established ideas and forces the reader and spectator to face the most extreme symbols and pictures.

The book Eroguro. Horror y erotismo en la cultura popular japonesa is filled with illustrations and includes texts by experts such as Daniel Aguilar, Iria Barro Vale, Rubén Lardin, Germán Menéndez Flórez and Palacios himself, that covers literature, manga, roman porno, anime and hentai, in addition to figures such as director Takashi Miike.
