The first part of YEAR WITHOUT A SUMMER is set in the moonlight. Azam comes back to his village. His childhood friend Ali and his wife Minah invite Azam for fishing and a midnight picnic on a small island. They spend the night talking about old myths. Towards the end of the night, they play a game of holding their breath underwater for 3 minutes, and Azam is never seen again. The second part is a retrospective look at the childhood of the two friends – young people come together in a place in the sun.
