Manuel Arias Maldonado is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Malaga, Spain. He is the author, among other books, of La democracia sentimental. Política y emociones en el siglo XXI  (Página Indómita, 2016), (Fe)Male Gaze. El contrato sexual en el siglo XXI (Anagrama, 2019), as well as (Pos)verdad y democracia (Página Indómita, 2024). He has written a book about Alfred Hitchcock’s VERTIGO, entitled Ficción fatal. Ensayo sobre Vertigo (Taurus, 2024). A compilation of articles on cinema is set to appear in the spring of 2025: Forever Cinema. Ensayos sobre el cine y su espectador (Editorial Confluencias). For several years, he wrote a blog on political and cultural issues (Torre de Marfil) in the journal Revista de Libros; now he is conducting a new one (Casa Rorty) in the Letras Libres journal. He has also collaborated frequently with Revista de Occident, Cuadernos Hispanoamericanos, Nueva Revista or Lettre International and directs the Political Thought Club at the La Malagueta Cultural Centre in Malaga. He has a weekly column in the newspaper El Mundo and another in the digital daily The Objective, where he also conducts a blog on movies and cinema (Rancho Notorious).
