Synopsis
During the Korean War, two US Army surgeons are assigned to a field hospital, where they use humour to maintain their sanity. The memorable Donald Sutherland played Hawkeye Pierce, a character later reprised by Alan Alda in the popular television series of the same name. The film premiered amid the Vietnam War, serving as a subversive satire about the military from the rear, with subtle, dark humour. Its adapted screenplay won an Oscar.
