Synopsis

Argentinean filmmaker Gastón Solnicki won the FIPRESCI Award at Venice with this portrayal of several young women who are in indeterminate states: within their own bodies, among their lovers and friends, and in a culture in both spiritual and economic crisis. Obliquely inspired by Bela Bartok’s opera, Kékszakállú describes a world loaded with ambiguities and responsibilities that could sap these characters’ souls as easily as it could grant them self-actualization.
