Screenings at the Monopol Multiplex will begin in the morning, from 10 a.m., with these two titles: <strong><em>The Vanished Dream<\/em> <\/strong>(Jos\u00e9 S. Betancor, Spain, 2016, 77 min.) and <strong><em>Mares\u00eda<\/em> <\/strong>(Dani Mill\u00e1n, Spain, 2016, 96 min.).<\/p>\n<p>This section of the festival is far from being, in the programmers\u2019 opinion, a sponsorship\u00a0of local production: <em>\u201cThere are true filmmakers in the Canaries\u201d<\/em>. There is a generation who express themselves, both in the feature and short film format, with the means in reach; a &#8220;digital generation&#8221; of the local cinema depicted\u00a0in the selected five feature and twelve short films, out of which\u00a0<em><strong>The Vanished Dream<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0will start the screenings on Friday, March 31 (10 a.m.). This documentary by <strong>Jos\u00e9 S. Betancor<\/strong> focuses on Guinea Bissau\u2019s independent process in 1974 and the testimonies of the European volunteers who moved to the African country at that time. The film, with a significant international run, has already been screened at the African Film Festival of Dallas, the Arusha African Film Festival, the MiradasDoc, the MIDBO and the Wales International Documentary Festival.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6345 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lpafilmfestival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/FOT_MARESIA_800.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lpafilmfestival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/FOT_MARESIA_800.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.lpafilmfestival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/FOT_MARESIA_800-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lpafilmfestival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/FOT_MARESIA_800-768x433.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lpafilmfestival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/FOT_MARESIA_800-200x113.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.lpafilmfestival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/FOT_MARESIA_800-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.lpafilmfestival.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/FOT_MARESIA_800-100x56.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At noon, the second film of the day, <em><strong>Mares\u00eda<\/strong><\/em>, screened at the G\u00e1ldar and Cerde\u00f1a Festivals, and produced and directed by Dani Mill\u00e1n, portrays the caravan trip of two youngsters around the Canarian Archipelago with the objective of rediscovering their land, culture and providing a new point of view.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the titles selected for the Canarias Cinema section, supported by 928 Ron, include the feature films <em><strong>La forma del mundo<\/strong><\/em> (David San Gin\u00e9s, Spain, 2017, 123 min.), <em><strong>Fogueo<\/strong><\/em> (David Sainz, Spain, 2016, 110 min.) and <strong><em>Julie<\/em><\/strong> (Alba Gonz\u00e1lez de Molina, Spain, 2016, 105 min.), as well as the short films <strong><em>Concoct or Wander<\/em><\/strong> (Lila Organa, Spain, 2016, 6 min.), <strong><em>The Landing<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>(David Pantale\u00f3n, Spain, 2016, 4 min.), <strong><em>Icelands<\/em><\/strong> (Miguel \u00c1ngel Mej\u00edas, Spain, 2016, 12 min.), <strong><em>The Campaign<\/em><\/strong> (Macu Mach\u00edn, Spain, 2017, 8 min.), <em><strong>Burning Mountains that Spew Flame<\/strong><\/em> (S. Morales, Spain, 2017, 5 min.), <strong><em>Sub Terrae<\/em><\/strong> (Nayra Sanz, Spain, 2017, 7 min.) and <em><strong>Toreros<\/strong><\/em> (Nacho Bello, Spain, 2016, 12 min.).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tickets sale<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tickets to attend screenings are available at the P\u00e9rez Gald\u00f3s Theater (from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and in the showings\u2019 afternoons, two hours before they begin), the Monopol Multiplex and the Elder Museum of Science and Technology\u2019s box offices. The cost of a showing is 4 euros, and it is also possible to by a five-film pass at 12 euros. They are available for purchase in advanced; the pass exchange for the five films must be done at the box office.
