Euroforum

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival (Canary Islands, Spain), launched nine years ago the EuroForum – Audiovisual Coproduction Market, a professional meeting point for European producers, distributors, broadcasters and other investors, with the aim of promoting coproduction of feature film projects intended for the European and international markets.

EuroForum edition will run March 16th & 24th 2012, with the purpose of offering participants with the opportunity for networking and obtaining funding for their film projects. Main goals of this European Forum are: to secure the participation of the most relevant audiovisual projects in Europe, to contribute in the development of the European film industry and to position The International Film Festival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as one of the most important meeting points of the International film calendar. EuroForum – Audiovisual Coproduction Market is organized by Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival and sponsored by Gobierno De Canarias, Canarias Cultura en Red, Proexca, Gran Canaria Film Commission, Tenerife Film Commission, Egeda, Filmotech, JSP, Binter Canarias and the Spanish Federation of Audiovisual Producers’ Associations (FAPAE).

How does it work?

In order to give each project the necessary space and attention, the number of projects invited to participate in this eighth edition is limited. The main criteria for the selection will be the quality of the projects intended for international market and the talent of directors or producers. In the final selection stage we shall endeavour to achieve a balance between commercial projects and other projects involving a greater creative risk. Projects must be of recent creation, under development and must not have exhausted all the possible ways of financing.

The most important European production, distribution and sales companies will be invited to participate, either by presenting projects suitable for coproduction or as investors of projects presented by other companies.

This 2 days event will count with the participation of:

  • Production companies with a project. All those companies which will like to participate with a project that can be done in co-production.
  • International Distributors. Companies that could be interested in the acquisition of distribution rights and/or TV screening rights.
  • Production companies or Project receivers. Companies that have the capacity to assume financial implication in the projects participating in the Forum.

The organisation will compile information on the projects invited (synopsis, technical data, financing, etc), which will be sent in advance among the potential backers of the projects. Their decision about the possibility of participating or not in the event will largely depend on the quality of the information presented. Subsequently, the receivers will indicate the companies with which they wish to have a meeting and, in keeping with all the information received, the organisation will elaborate the meetings agendas previous to the arrival of all participants.

In addition to these pre-arranged appointments, the Forum offers additional opportunities for contacts and networking with participants and guests of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival, by giving free access to all the activities of the festival: receptions, screenings, galas, etc. Informal lunches and dinners will also facilitate opportunities for meeting and making business.

The Forum will take place within a specially designated area of the Festival Headquarters. A Professional Meeting Point will be available for all the participants with screening facilities (DVD) and internet access.
