Surely, someone could find the statement “The Canary Islands’ cinema suffers a robust bad health” too bold. Accepting that, happily, there are opinions for all tastes, the truth is that there are irrefutable and eloquently descriptive realities. The presence of filmmakers from the Canary Islands in national and international frontline events is less and less infrequent, and different examples can be found in this and other sections of the Festival. At the same time, it feels gratifying the courage of those, who achieve to make a leap to the features after flying with fortune in the universe of the short films, just like those who launch out themselves to develop their careers in other regions, without losing their roots.
